Dickens Of A Tea Shoppe is a cozy café tucked away on Crown Bridge in Penkridge, offering a straightforward, welcoming stop for those traveling through or locals seeking a simple, well-crafted breakfast. The atmosphere is unpretentious with a friendly, familiar feel that makes it easy to settle in for a comforting meal and a good cup of tea or coffee.

This spot seems particularly popular for hearty morning breaks, with visitors praising the quality and portion size of their cooked breakfasts served in generous mugs of tea—an element that speaks to how much the place values a proper, no-fuss tea-drinking experience. It’s a place where you can expect honest, traditional English café fare without the pressure of fine dining, perfect for travelers needing a reprieve on the road or local workers grabbing a satisfying start to their day.

The vibe is relaxed with a touch of charm in the décor that makes it feel like a local staple rather than a chain café. Efficient and friendly service adds to the ease of dropping in, whether you’re passing through or attending an event nearby. It’s worth noting that this café is cash-only, which might catch some visitors unprepared, but reflects a certain old-school authenticity common in village cafés.

For those visiting by car or even passing on local waterways, this shop serves as a practical, welcoming pause with good value and a genuine neighborhood atmosphere. Early mornings and late breakfasts seem ideal here, especially on weekdays when locals likely stop in to recharge. While it may not offer trendy blends or artisan brews, the focus on solid, comforting English tea and food creates a dependable, down-to-earth place to enjoy.

Stopped at this lovely little cafe en route to Scotland and was so impressed by the value, quality and service that I felt a positive review was well earned. The owner was really friendly and our cooked breakfast was delicious, served with a proper mug of hot tea. Very reasonably priced, good food so top marks all round for this quaint little cafe.

What a fabulous place this is. Doing good honest English food at very reasonable prices. Great tea and coffee too. The guy serving us was extremely efficient and very friendly. The decor is top notch and the atmosphere was just perfect after our long car journey. A very memorable experience.

So we stopped at this little cafe while taking a break from a event we was at. We was all very impressed by the cost of the food and the quality of the food that was served to us. The owner was a really friendly person. We had a full English breakfast and it was really goood. We all enjoyed the food. Worth a stop at if you are in the area. We will be back. We can't recommend this place a enough.

Nice local cafe, super friendly staff, decent breakfast, good sized mugs of tea. The only downside is that they don’t take cards! Cash only.

9am on Sunday morning we had a brilliant cooked breakfast for two, with toast and coffee for £17 - the owner even gave us a sausage for our dog! Top class nosh, just the job! And there was parking right outside big enough for our campervan. Take cash (there's a machine in the Coop 2 min away).
